AstLinux

To quote from the AstLinux Web site

AstLinux is a custom Linux distribution centered around Asterisk, the Open Source PBX. “

AstLinux has many features that make it ideal for embedded and commercial Asterisk based solutions. However, it can be easily configured to adapt to nearly any situation.”

The real advantage of AstLinux is that it will run on some really low power systems. This makes it an ideal solution for groups working in small offices or home offices. For these situations you can run AstLinux from a compact flash (CF) card on a single board computer, such as the Soekris 4801 and the Wrap 1E-2. For more information on these ‘embedded’ boards please look at our Hardware page.

For systems needing more processor power, AstLinux can run on a mini-itx platform. Here there are a large range of processor options that still provide a compact relatively low power solution.
